Sick of spending your time online interacting with actual people? Good news, thanks to a partnership announced today, Toyota Motor Corp and Salesforce.com have decided to create a social network where vehicle owners can become “friends” with their cars and get friendly, tweet-like reminders for maintenance checks and other alerts. The offering will first roll-out in Japan next year and only in Toyota’s electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles. Named ‘Toyota Friend,’ the private network will connect customers with their cars, their dealership, and with Toyota remotely via smart phones and the Internet. Information filtering through the application will include product and service data as well as maintenance tips.
