Aussie Cannes entries up 30%

Australian entries for this year’s Cannes Lions are up by over 30% on last year, with the overall number of submissions for the world’s biggest advertising competition up by 7% to 24,242.

A total of 1,025 entries were submitted by Australian agencies, up from 784 in 2009. Entries from New Zealand are also up 19% to 358 from 290.

The Press category had the most number of entries from Australia with 178, up from 130 in 2009. Media was next with 149, Film Lions 122, Direct 98, Outdoor 97, Promo 90, Cyber 81, Radio 81, this year’s new category of Film Craft saw 67 entries from Australia, Design Lions had 27, Titanium 20 and PR 15.
